The success story of Neumann&Müller began quite modestly in an office and a storeroom covering an area of only 40 square meters in Düsseldorf. In 1980, the two engineering students, Jürgen Neumann and Eberhard Müller, who had studied video and sound engineering, decided to take their future into their own hands and became self-employed. They set up a company providing PA systems for outdoor radio productions, at the same time making a start in the field of equipment rental for sound. Their first orders came from the broadcasting station Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR).
Over the years, N&M has established itself in the market as an expert in planning, conception and execution, providing these services for events of all kinds and sizes. In the course of time, the branch office in Düsseldorf was followed by fourteen others in Germany, as well as three branches abroad. Today, N&M employs more than 180 people. Clean structures, flat hierarchies and a sophisticated company bonus policy that enables employees to participate in the company’s success are the basis for the team’s outstanding commitment.
The pillars of N&M’s success are the quality of the technical systems and the work that is done as well as a high level of availability and reliability in handling projects. Internal technical testing and maintenance guarantees that the materials and accessories provided by all branches of the company are always in excellent condition. The effectively structured network of interconnected branch offices ensures that first-class equipment is quickly available at all times and everywhere. Thanks to an electronic logistics system, it is possible at any time to find out what equipment is currently being used by the branches or whether the material requested by the customer is on site or has to be delivered.
N&M also places great value on a good education and thorough training. The company is now one of the firms recognized by the vocational academy in Karlsruhe for students attending courses in event systems engineering (BA). Around 40 trainees, most of whom are working to qualify as a „specialist for event technology,“ belong to the team. At N&M, a growing number of interns are gathering their first experience in the event management industry.
In addition, N&M is also involved in „ebam,“ the business academy for media, event, culture and music, which, at eight locations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, offers a comprehensive range of seminars and advanced training courses. In this way, a series of N&M experts, acting as lecturers for ebam, contribute their practical know-how in the field of event management and systems.
Since the year 2000, partners from agencies and companies event coordinators have been able to attend seminars free of charge, where they are able to learn about technical innovations in the event industry.
