Special Features: Gala and award show/corporate event for the largest party of travellers ever to visit the Emirate (16,000 Asian sales staff). The location is situated in the middle of the desert and there is no firm surface. Temperature fluctuations up to 40° Celsius and freak weather conditions hampered the work: the projection surface vanished in thick fog; a storm destroyed the projection surface (ellipses) between the two evenings

16,000 of Nu Skin's Asian sales staff were invited to Dubai as part of an incentive programme and were entertained by a unique show at a gala dinner. We were engaged to realise the lighting and video concept as well as the entire communication system. The highlight of the multimedia show: two concentrically arranged ellipses supported by an 85-metre-wide truss arch spanning the entire stage. We designed the two 27- and 19-metre-wide screens so that they could be moved with a chain hoist during the show, and seven projectors per screen could display their images symmetrically from the east side and west side - from where the audience was watching the production. More of these 20,000 ANSI lumen projectors provided the images for two 14-metre-wide lateral screens for which seven cameras presented live pictures of the evening as well as the show's video elements.

Besides supporting the ellipses, the truss arch was also used for mounting the lights and pyrotechnical installation. Being visible from a great distance, it served not only as a structural element but also as a decorative element in the production. The multimedia content was provided by pre-programmed Watchout servers. D3 servers adapted the content to the two projection surfaces, which moved in relation to one another as well as up and down as part of the stage setting; the ellipses were fitted with a tracking system to realise this effect. 25 programmable four-wire intercoms were linked up using glass-fibre cables. Two-wire partyline beltpacks served as backup. In addition, we used four Telex wireless intercom lines with 30 beltpacks, 170 digital Tetra radios with the corresponding basic infrastructure as well as 24 analogue radios.
