Sustainability, Certifications and Ratings

Sustainable events begin with companies that think and act in the interest of sustainability, engage in long-term planning and consider all facets of the situation.

Acting sustainably for a more sustainable world

We know how important it is to conserve resources in all business sectors. That is why, for some time now, sustainability has been a high priority issue at N&M.

Acting in the interests of sustainability does not only mean showing ecological responsibility. We believe that sustainable development can only be achieved if we simultaneously pursue environmental, economic and social goals and give equal weight to each.

To help us implement these objectives and continue to improve, we have resolved to introduce an integrated management system covering the environment and safety. We engage EcoVadis, the independent ratings provider, to rate us and our commitment on a regular basis. The rating shows the effectiveness of our wide-ranging efforts while also pointing out areas in which we could become even better.

ISO Certifications

In order to improve our environmental and occupational health and safety standards, we have decided to introduce an integrated management system based on ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

ISO 14001 is an internationally recognised standard for environmental management systems. It sets out requirements that enable us to systematically improve our efforts in terms of environmental protection. This includes identifying and monitoring environmental impact, compliance with statutory regulations and continuous improvement in terms of achieving environmental goals. This helps us to be a company that plays an active role in protecting the environment. We also support our staff with training and awareness-raising activities to make sure that everyone can contribute to our environmental management system.

ISO 45001, on the other hand, is the international standard for occupational health and safety management systems. It provides a framework for improving health and safety at work.

The standard helps N&M to identify, assess and manage risks so we can keep industrial accidents and work-related illnesses to a minimum. We also support our staff with preventive measures and health courses.

Ecovadis Certification

Our company places great importance on corporate social responsibility (CSR) because we want to take on responsibility for our society and for our employees as part of that society.

At first glance, sustainability and the event industry may not seem to go hand in hand. But thinking and working sustainably does not mean being 100% sustainable right away. Our goal as a company is to take the path of continuous improvement, which will help us and our clients to assume responsibility and realise more sustainable events.

We can only do this together, and the rating our efforts receive is often not as obvious as it appears at first glance. However, we are convinced that our world will become more sustainable, if, for example, a global climate conference raises people’s awareness – and we are proud to contribute to the success of such events.

In order to ensure the best possible CRS assessment for ourselves and our clients, we have decided to commission an independent, holistic rating procedure.

The organisation we chose for this task was EcoVadis, the world’s largest provider of sustainability ratings. In addition to the assessment itself, other criteria help companies to discover potential for optimisation by themselves and to query their own processes.

Since it was founded in 2007, the agency has rated over 130,000 companies according to a total of 21 criteria across four themes: “Environment”, “Labour & Human Rights”, “Ethics” and “Sustainable Procurement”.

Our 2024 rating saw renewed improvement, and we are proud that our efforts were recognised with a silver medal. We are among the top 15 percent of all companies rated by EcoVadis.
