The 25th International AIDS Conference took place in Germany…
…for the first time in 30 years in 2024, making Munich the centre of global exchange in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Under the motto “Put People First”, around 15,000 participants from over 175 countries came together: leading figures from science, medicine, healthcare and activists. The programme, organised by the International AIDS Society (IAS), included over 40 presenter-led abstract sessions, 50 sessions with international keynote speakers, 22 workshops, 100 satellite sessions, 2,200 poster presentations and 200 activities in the “Global Village”.
We were responsible for the complete technical support in 15 session rooms and the temporary construction of five additional rooms for the successful implementation of this international medical conference. Our services included lighting, sound and video technology, rigging and event IT in all lecture areas, as well as the IT infrastructure for registration and organisational offices. In addition, we took care of the detailed planning, coordination of numerous internal departments and management of a large technical team. Our colleagues from ICT provided preconfigured computers for the back office. During the seven-day event, we managed a crew that worked a total of 973 man-days in daily shifts from 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
