DRV's Travel Agents' Conference Held as a Digital Live Event

The German Travel Association (DRV) represents the interests of the industry, and every year it invites participants to its "Travel Agents' Conference". At the gathering of experts from the country's travel agencies, the focus is usually on sales issues – in March 2020, it was the corona pandemic that dominated the agenda. Due to the government's social distancing regulations, the organisers decided at short notice to hold the conference as a Digital Live Event. On 19th March, the travel experts discussed the consequences of the crisis in an all-day digital forum and watched presentations on specialist topics. The conference was moderated from a temporary studio that we set up in a DRV conference room in Berlin. The speakers joined the event via a collaboration platform providing both images and audio.

We implemented the Digital Live Event within just two days. In order to realise high-quality, professional streaming, we installed a mobile studio with two cameras and the appropriate video and control room equipment. We also ensured perfect, camera-specific lighting for the room. An audience of 1,200 followed the livestream and was able to play an interactive role by means of a website programmed by us especially for the occasion. This meant that during the event participants in the Travel Agents' Conference were able to ask questions – which were processed by a team of editors and sent to the moderator's iPad – and during the breaks they had the opportunity to access a chat function.
