60 Years of ING Deutsch-land

When its own employees form a rock band, ING Germany not only celebrates its 60th anniversary, but also sets …

… a Guinness World Record.

When 2,894 ING employees flocked to Hall 11 of the Frankfurt Exhibition Centre for the birthday party, none of them had any idea what was going to happen that evening. Only the anniversary motto ‘born to bank wild’ gave a small hint. Backstage, the employees first received a crash course in guitar, drums and singing. Nervousness and heart palpitations included. Then it was off to the hall for a joint live performance. It was pure goosebumps and rousing euphoria.

‘Our in-house band was not only great, but also the biggest in the world: according to Guinness World Records, we were the “Largest performance by an in-house company band”,’ said Nurten Erdogan, CFO of ING. CEO Lars Stoy added: ‘The official certificate was presented to me on behalf of the whole band that evening. It’s a record I’ll remember for a very long time.’

Such a huge band naturally needs to be staged in an equally outstanding way. We ensured this with our lighting concept. We used 1,000 intelligently networked light sources, which could be controlled individually via our data network. This enabled us to perform pixel mapping of the entire rig, creating a much more immersive experience for the performing employees. At the same time, the interplay of lighting and content on the LED walls created a grand whole: the colour and lighting moods created an overall picture that made the partygoers feel as if they were not only closer to the action, but actually right in the middle of it.

We realised this very special project on behalf of the agency Voss+Fischer, with whom we have been working closely and in partnership for over 25 years.
