Every two years, major players in the clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine sectors meet at EuroMedLab. Biologists, technicians and engineers value this top-flight conference as a platform for benefiting from each other's know-how and experience. In parallel to the congress, enterprises have the opportunity to present their products and services to a professional audience made up of representatives from both private and public laboratories. The 2021 edition of EuroMedLab had been postponed from November 2021 to the following April, taking place in hybrid form at the Internationales Congress Centrum München (ICM).

The organiser hired us to implement the best possible link-up of congress content shown live online and the live part at the ICM. The basis for such challenging hybrid conference formats is provided by our specially designed, digital congress platform, which enables simple online participation. The "Big Blue Button" digital tool enabled us to involve 30 of the 155 speakers in the conference; they joined in via a remote video link and were not present at the venue in Munich. Their presentations were distributed via the "B4" system; all of the speakers managed their chats themselves using the "Presnetter" tool.

come2present, another N&M conference application, was also deployed at the event, showing its strengths at an early stage when the e-mail invitations were sent out – direct and bundled. However, the greatest benefit was that we were able to manage all 200 presentations using the tool: that is to say, we could:

  • allow the speakers access at short notice if they wanted to make any changes
  • distribute the presentations to the relevant presentation rooms
  • play presentations that had already been recorded from a centralised control facility

22 Educational Workshops were held during the four-day congress. We provided the entire technical equipment for the halls used – six of them for EuroMedLab as a whole. In Exhibition Hall C1, 64 exhibitors and sponsors had perfect conditions for presenting their companies, products and services to the 2,000 attendees. We planned and implemented the safety-related suspension points and also provided complete implementation of the exhibitors' booths.
