N&M Implements Technical Concepts for IAA Mobility in Munich

Messe München

The most important industry gathering of automobile, technology, bicycle and micromobility companies will be held at the beginning of September at Messe München trade fair centre as well as in downtown Munich and will give us an insight into the mobility of the future. It provides a platform for connecting sustainability and digitalisation far beyond the automobile and will be welcoming trade visitors to the “Summit” in the halls of the exhibition centre and the general public to the “Open Space” in the city.

The second edition of IAA Mobility, the world's leading platform for mobility, sustainability and technology, will be held in Munich from 5th to 10th September. It sees itself as a progressive, global platform for a diverse future of mobility. Under the slogan “Experience Connected Mobility” it showcases smart digital solutions that make mobility as a whole safer, more comfortable and more efficient. IAA Mobility gives visitors the opportunity of experiencing this transformation in the form of interaction between various traffic carriers and companies from the fields of technology, IT, entertainment electronics and communication who are active in this ecosystem. It also covers vehicle manufacturers and suppliers.

For the organisers of IAA Mobility as well as for renowned vehicle manufacturers and service companies, Neumann & Müller Veranstaltungstechnik (N&M) will be implementing a large number of technical concepts for stages both at the exhibition centre and in downtown Munich. N&M also designed the content management for handling presentations to be given by over 500 speakers from all over the world.

The “IAA Summit” and the accompanying “IAA Conference”, which are aimed exclusively at trade visitors and take place in six halls of the Messe München trade fair centre, will host keynotes, discussions and information formats on three stages. IAA Mobility will kick off with an initial press conference and the official opening by Chancellor Scholz on the main stage in Hall A1, which will be equipped by N&M.

N&M will also be implementing the technical concepts for the Blue and Yellow Stages, where 80 to 100 guests will follow the speakers' presentations, as well as for the “Visionary Club House” dialogue space. The 75-seat PwC Deutschland and Microsoft “Smart Mobility Space”, a further dialogue space providing a setting for creation and collaboration, will also be realised by N&M. The stage will host an extensive programme with 25 topic panels on mobility issues of the future ranging from hydrogen and the circular economy through to generative AI.

N&M's Digital Media team will be responsible for stage and content design at the “IAA Conference”. Messe München, the fair organiser VDA and N&M have been in close contact since the beginning of the year working on the successful expansion of the “IAA Conference” to a total of five stages. The close collaboration between client, technical service provider and the content creation team enabled consultation more or less in real-time and resulted in a straightforward planning process.

Working together with N&M’s “Information and Communication Technology” (ICT) and “Digital Live Event” (DLE) units, the Digital Media team is also handling content management across five halls, a process which started with collecting speakers' data long before the beginning of the fair. The data collected, along with content packages produced in advance of the event, will be made accessible to all stages from a central hub by means of a content management system. This will reduce the need for distribution and communication; it will give the technicians responsible for the various stages and for content management the flexibility they need to meet the demanding requirements of a live event on this scale.

The “Open Space” will expand IAA Mobility to Munich’s city centre for the general public. Anyone will be able to visit freely accessible experience spaces free of charge until 10th September. In Wittelsbacher Platz, Odeonsplatz, Marstallplatz, Königsplatz, Marienplatz, Max-Joseph-Platz as well as Ludwigstrasse, Hofgartenstrasse and the courtyards of the Residenz building, “Open Space” is a festival for sustainable urban mobility and a place for dialogue and discussion between brands, initiatives and anyone interested in the subject. Embedded between art and cultural attractions, food concepts and live entertainment, “Open Space” will allow visitors to experience the mobility of tomorrow and give the public the opportunity to test innovations from the sector such as cars, e-scooters and e-bikes.

The Apothekenhof, for example, will be the setting for the Mercedes-Benz “Open Space”, with N&M providing the technical realisation. In this location, visitors will be able to experience the entire range of the Mercedes portfolio with current and future electric and electrified vehicles. The highlight will be the concept vehicle, which demonstrates the car manufacturer's vision for its future entry-level segment. A series of other vehicles will also be celebrating their world premiere. The Mercedes-Benz pavilion will offer car enthusiasts and visitors a varied program ranging from children's activities through to evening music events. At the “IAA Summit” held at the trade fair centre, Mercedes-Benz will also be hosting an innovation forum for pioneering technologies on its booth in Hall B3.
