A unique meeting place for automobile and motorcycle aficionados as well as a versatile event space – that is "Motorworld München". Nowadays, vintage cars and premium vehicles are far from being the only attractions at the site of the former railway maintenance depot in the Freimann district of Munich: numerous event locations such as the "Zenith", "Dampfdom", "Kohlebunker" and "Kesselhaus" halls along with the "Kleine Lokhalle" and "Drivers Halls" conference and event rooms in "Gebäude 79" provide event planners with a high-class, historical building complex for corporate events, congresses, conferences, trade fairs, exhibitions, concerts and galas. Thanks to its industrial architecture and customised formats, the venue creates a unique atmosphere. The spaces feature extremely impressive ceiling heights and can be booked separately or in combination.

In our role as a preferred partner of "Motorworld München" we advise organisers as early as the planning stage of events, offer bespoke concepts concerning the use of audio, lighting and video solutions, and also manage conference equipment, event IT and content production. Our dedicated technicians have many years of know-how at their disposal, which allows us to deliver high-quality realisation of every event idea and ensure the smooth running of every occasion.

Zenith

The former depot and train shed is a steel construction regarded as a jewel among Munich's event locations due to its special architectural features. The listed industrial structure was commissioned by King Ludwig III and built by Krupp between 1916 and 1918. At first it was a press shop for an artillery factory, then a boiler shop for the Reichsbahn and after that a maintenance and train repair depot for the Bundesbahn up until 1995. It is this industrial past that gives the present-day cultural hall an exceptional atmosphere and a special charm all of its own.

With a usable space of around 4,200 m², the hall can be partitioned using the hall crane and is licensed to hold a maximum of around 6,000 persons; the existing staircase can be individually positioned at the front on the left, right or in the middle. The Zenith is 39 m wide and 74 m long, and features direct access for cars and trucks/tractor units.

The stage is 27 m wide, 16.50 m deep and 1.50 m high. There are 10 backstage rooms fitted with basic furnishings: 5 smaller rooms with a view into the hall and 5 larger ones, all on the 1st floor with direct access to the stage and a separate outside door.

The rear upper floor of the "Lokhalle" (Locomotive Hall) houses one of Motorworld München's highlights: the "Dampfdom", a large hall used for events and concerts. With 1,590 m² of vacant space – divided into the main hall (1,180 m²) and gallery (410 m²) – the "Dampfdom" can accommodate up to 2,300 people. Kohlebunker

Built as a coal storage facility for the Reichsbahn, work on conversion to an out-of-the-ordinary event hall began in autumn 2015 – today it combines an impressive history with modernity.

The outstanding combination of old stone walls with clear signs of wear from its time as a coal bunker with the glass construction above gives the guest the impression of being out in the open air. Especially when combined with the "Kesselhaus", the location displays a high level of functionality.

The Kohlebunker is between 14 m and 20 m wide, 60 m long and provides around 1,000 m² of usable space; it can also be divided into separately usable areas:

  • Main hall: 519 m²
  • Adjacent hall: 174 m²
  • Foyer: 190 m²
  • Gallery: 102 m²
  • Bar area: 57 m²

The hall has WiFi (50 Mbit download, 10 Mbit upload); a second, separate line can be connected. There are currently around 700 parking spaces at the site.

  • approx. 970 m² usable space – divided into three areas, incl. gallery and balcony in the largest room

Capacities/Permitted No. of Persons:

Kesselhaus

Designed by the architects Theodor Fischer and Otto Ernst Schweizer at the beginning of the last century, the heavy steel-frame construction was designed for heavy loads and still makes a great impression today.

Parts of the boiler installation and the old chimney have been preserved in their original condition and have withstood a lot during almost one hundred years of Kesselhaus history: despite severe bomb damage during the 2nd World War, it did its job for almost 70 years – until it was finally closed in 1995.

However, the Kesselhaus not only has a fascinating history in its own right but also played a decisive role in shaping the Freimann district: as the factory's power house, it was the starting point for the rapid industrial and urban development in this northern part of Munich.

The Kesselhaus is around 20 m wide and over 50 m long with a usable area of 900 m². Backstage there are two further rooms in the neighbouring building. The hall has ground-level access for cars. There are currently around 700 parking spaces at the site. It has WiFi (50 Mbit download, 10 Mbit upload); a second, separate line can be connected.

Area:

  • approx. 900 m² usable space

Capacities/Permitted No. of Persons:

  • Maximum: 1,300
  • Row Seating: 680
  • Banquet Seating: approx. 450

Gebäude 79 - „Drivers Hall”

At the repair works, "Gebäude 79" housed the administration offices along with changing and washing facilities for the workers. It also accommodated a non-public power distribution centre. Following extensive refurbishment, the building now provides two modern event locations.

The "Drivers Hall" makes an impressive impact thanks to its no-frills design and abundance of space. A mobile partition enables "Formel 1" and "Formel 2" to be customised to meet clients' needs. There is also a dedicated preparation room for catering as well as an outdoor area that is also available to clients.

Areas:

  • “Drivers Hall” in total: 342 m²
  • Formel 1: 192 m²
  • Formel 2: 92 m²
  • Vorbereitungsraum: 58 m²

Capacities:

  • “Drivers Hall” in total: 199 PAX
  • Formel 1: 129 PAX
  • Formel 2: 70 PAX

Kleine Lokhalle & weitere Tagungsräume

Nowadays, Motorworld München boasts a total of 24 conference rooms – some of them are dedicated to motor racing legends such as Hans-Joachim Stuck, Leopold Prinz von Bayern, Walter Röhrl and Christian Geistdörfer and have been fitted out in close collaboration with these famous names. In addition to the "Kleine Lokhalle" >LINK to heading "Gebäude 79" above< and the prestigious "Rotunde" foyer >LINK to heading "Dampfdom" below< on Conference Level 1 in the actual "Lokhalle", the rooms also provide space for four to 126 persons and are six to 134 m² in size.

Zeppelin Lounge

The 75 m² lounge with the large glazed facade affords a direct view into Motorworld. It has space for up to 120 persons and is ideal for gala evenings, receptions, presentations and workshops as well as for private parties. Guests are greeted by a photo of airship pioneer Graf von Zeppelin on the entrance door; historical photographs also line the bar, whose curved shape and fabric-covering on the bar counter allude to the frame of a Zeppelin. An artistic light installation featuring hovering pebbles suspended from the ceiling of the lounge area creates a fantastic impression, as do the exquisite materials and furniture and the green mossy wall, which both absorbs sound and has a positive effect on the room climate.
