Gaggenau trade fair stand scoops award in company's anniversary year

Köln

Famab Award in Bronze for "Best Stand Design" goes to "einszu33" for the Gaggenau stand at "EuroCucina 2016": the manufacturer of high-quality home appliances celebrated it 333rd anniversary in Milan. N&M was in charge of lighting and video for the impressive presentation in the northern Italian Metropolis.

The impressive brand presentation on behalf of Gaggenau, the home appliance manufacturer, at "EuroCucina 2016" in Milan earned the Famab Award in Bronze in the category "Best Stand Design" for "Einszu33", the Munich-based specialists for corporate architecture. Gaggenau invited visitors to travel through four centuries of company history on its remarkable stand at the leading international kitchen fair held in the northern Italian metropolis in the middle of April. Neumann&Müller Veranstaltungstechnik was commissioned to provide the lighting and video systems for the stand.

The Famab Award in Bronze is not the first prize won by the 333-year-old Gaggenau appliance company and "einszu33": the trade fair stand for the anniversary year had already won the "Red Dot Award" 2016 in the category "Best Communication Design" as well as the "Best of the best" award in the category "Trade Fair Architecture". For the previous year's presentation - with N&M again entrusted with the technical realisation of the stands - both customer and agency were honoured with the German Design Award 2017 as well as the 2015 editions of the Iconic Award, ADC Award and IF Award Gold.

At the fair in Milan, a 180-degree projection illustrated the milestones in the brand's development. With Kai Gerner assisting as the planning specialist for video, N&M project manager Bernd Herchenbach designed a Softedge projection realised with 13 projectors. One challenge the pair faced was that there was only a very short distance between the projectors and the screen due to the structural specifications for the stand.

N&M was also responsible for realising both the rigging and the lighting concept. This included presenting a medieval blacksmith shop, which represented the company's origins as a forge producing hammers and nails. This was contrasted with a presentation highlighting new, innovative products. The centrepiece of the Gaggenau stand was a centrally positioned glass cube, for which the lighting had to be set up in an elaborate process before the fair began. A black wrap was used to influence the scatter angle of the light. Fifty metres of the heat resistant black aluminium foil was used to create a homogeneous overall picture.
