In many respects, the corona pandemic represented an enormous challenge to the state-owned KfW promotional bank throughout the year 2020. On the one hand, it had to manage the German government’s billions of euros of economic aid and, on the other hand, it also had to ensure the protection of all its employees against infection. In this situation, an event format such as the annual management conference for 800 managers is of vital importance for internal communication within the banking group. However, it was necessary to create a virtual alternative to the classical in-person event with its incentive character: a new, digital and interactive format taking all applicable hygiene and social distancing rules into consideration.
We have been a technical partner of the KfW banking group for many years now and were involved in planning the new format for the management conference from an early stage. Together with the communications staff at the KfW, we developed a tailor-made technical concept for the Digital Live Event held on the premises of the Frankfurt headquarters. Using our “come2join” platform solution, our programmers designed a dedicated event website that completely fulfilled all of the state-owned bank’s security and data privacy requirements. We realised the hosting for three livestreams broadcast in parallel, the various interaction tools, live link-ups with experts from all around the world plus a series of breakout sessions for small groups. Our service package also included the planning and provision of the required event and studio equipment on site for the two-day management event in September 2020.
